Southwest Tech will be offering a CNC Technician course for current CNC Operators who’d like to upgrade their skills.This class introduces students to CNC machines that utilize G&M code (EIA-274-D) programming. Students learn correct syntax and safe machine tool programming, as well as machine setup. Students will produce a finished part to test their skills. This is a hands on class so there is an emphasis on safety.
Prerequisites include: Basic shop math, CNC experience or completion of Intro to CNC Machining class, and Shop safety training
- Writing basic programs for machine tools.
- Designing and setting cutting tools.
- Setting work shifts.
- Calculating correct feeds and speeds.
- Inspection using standard gauging practices.
- Basic blueprint reading.
