This certification is sponsored by the National Restaurant Association to ensure safety in food handling procedures.  Two versions of ServSafe are available, Food Handler and Manager.  Food Handler applies to anyone who works in a kitchen.  Managers are responsible for inspecting food deliveries, supervising staff, and other managerial restaurant and food service functions.
